Milke Danda Trek is one of Nepal’s off-the-beaten treks. Milke Danda is one of the long, tall forest ridges in eastern Nepal that divides the Tamur and Arun Valleys. We can start our trek from Basantapur or Tumlingtar and hike up to this ridge for roughly 7 to 11 days. This trek offers views of majestic mountains including Mt. Makalu, 8,463 m to the west, and Mt. Kanchenjunga, 8,586 m, located in Nepal’s eastern region.

The ridge has significant ecological diversity, with alpine vegetation at its highest point and Sal Forests in the valleys of the Tamur and Arun rivers. The Milke Danda trek is well known for having the greatest variety of Nepalese Rhododendron species (29 out of 32 species reported from Nepal). The sacred lakes of Gufa Pokhari and Lam Pokhari are among the lovely Mid Hills woodland scenery there.

Detailed Itinerary of Milke Danda Trek

Day 1: Drive from Kathmandu to Basantapur 2200m) via Dharan

We will go via Dharan to Basantapur, which is located at a height of 2200m. These two are stunning locations in the Eastern Region where you can see a large group of tourists. Spend the night at a lodge.

Day 2: Trek to Chauki 2700m

You’ll leave Basantapur the following morning to drive to Chauki, which is located at 2700 meters. You will travel in the direction of the rhododendron forest while being overpowered by the views of Tamur Koshi, Arun Koshi, and Makalu. You will then travel to Tude Deorali and ascend from there, traveling via Phedi until you reach Chauki.

Day 3: Trek to Ghupha Pokhari 2930m

Gupha Pokhari

You will trek to Ghupha Pokhari, which is 2930 meters above sea level, on the third day. You will go the entire distance via Manglebare, Baluchi, and Srimani with ascending and descending trails. The hiking track will next take you to two little lakes at Lamo Pokhari. Once more traveling through the bamboo huts at Koranghatar and taking in the other lakes will bring you to Ghupha Pokhari.

Day 4: Trek to Milke Danda 3124m

Trek to Milke Danda, starting at Ghupha Pokhari. You will hike 3124 meters up to Milke Danda. You can see Mount Makalu and a vast rhododendron forest in the distance.

Day 5: Milke Danda Exploration

Milke danda trekking offer best views of world’s third highest mountain Kanchenjunga 8586m, world’s 7th highest mountain Makalu 8463m and different Himalayan views. Trekkers enjoy with huge forests of rhododendrons along the ridge.

Day 6: Trek to Bhalukhop

Involving yourself in exploration you will move to trek Bhalukhop which is another prosperous village. Here, you will get lots of places to carry out the sightseeing and amazing forest that you have never imagined so far. Thus, you will give a new direction to your destination. Stay overnight in a lodge.

Day 7: Trek to Jaljala

On the following day, you will head to trek Jaljala from where you can view the panoramic land with bright wild blossom, a forest of Rhododendron and green pastureland. Jaljala is also known for viewing Mount Sisne, Mount Dhaulagiri, Mount Putha and Mount Annapurna. Being one of the pilgrimage sites most of the people come here to show their respect. Stay overnight in a lodge.

Day 8: Trek to Chainpur

On the following day, you will move from Jaljala to Chainpur which is supposed to be another destination to precede the trek. You will feel good throughout the trekking to Chainpur and the trekking trail is not tricky. Arriving in Chainpur you will inward for your stay. Stay overnight in a lodge.

Day 9: Trek to Phapung

Leaving Chainpur today you will move towards Phapung where you will take upward and then downward movement. Arriving in Phapung you will take a deep breath and look around the environment and you could not stop yourself from admiring the landscapes. Stay overnight in a lodge.

Day 10: Trek to Tumlingtar

The journey from Phapung to Tumlingtar is very amazing and the trail is so cherished with the prosperous ethnic assortment and it involves the people like Brahmin, Sherpa, and Rai. The trekking trail will capture the scene with arriving at the altitude of 3124m. Stay overnight in a lodge.

Day 11: Fly back to Kathmandu

In an early morning, you will take a flight to Kathmandu from Tumlingtar Airport.

The Milke Danda Trek is relatively easy trek that is great for beginners and nature lovers. At Milke Danda, the adventure’s highest elevation is 3124m. Anyone who hasn’t done high-altitude trekking before can go on this quest because it’s a lower altitude trek.
